New GOP Bill Replaces Ben Franklin With Donald Trump On $100 Bill

A House Republican introduced legislation on Monday to feature President Donald Trump’s image on a redesigned $100 bill. The proposal requires the Treasury Secretary to present a draft design including Trump by the end of 2026, with all $100 bills issued after December 31, 2028, bearing his likeness on the front, according to a press statement. Currently, Benjamin Franklin graces the front of the $100 note, with Independence Hall depicted on the reverse.
Dubbed the “Golden Age Act of 2025,” the bill echoes Trump’s inaugural pledge to usher in a period of American renewal and prosperity. Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX), the bill’s sponsor, highlighted Trump’s resilience, noting his survival of an assassination attempt during a Pennsylvania campaign event. “Rather than relaxing in retirement, President Trump risked his life for this nation and is now tirelessly working to secure our borders, rebalance global trade, restore energy independence, and prioritize America by cutting wasteful foreign aid,” Gill stated.
He continued, “No one has done more to launch America’s golden era than Trump. Placing him on the $100 bill is a modest tribute to his upcoming achievements over the next four years.” The press release names Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) as a co-sponsor, while Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) expressed interest in joining after Gill shared a mock-up of the bill featuring Trump’s White House portrait on X.
Across party lines, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) responded with a tongue-in-cheek counterproposal on X, suggesting Trump’s face adorn a $10,000 bill. Previously, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) pitched the “TRUMP Act” in 2024 to put Trump on $500 notes, though it never reached a vote. Other GOP efforts to honor Trump include a January proposal from Rep. Addison McDowell (R-NC) to rename Virginia’s Washington Dulles International Airport after the former president.
